The Sparrer family are Bay Area natives with close community ties. Meaning, as a local, family owned and operated company, we don't just serve the families here in the Bay Area – we live and have grown up here, too! We also have several longtime employees, with very diverse backgrounds, who know the importance of ensuring the well-being of our community by keeping involved with causes and organizations they hold close to their hearts.
We believe that the success of our funeral home requires dedication and professionalism. It also requires a great deal of kindness, compassion and attention to detail.

From there, it is our mission to not only make sure your loved one is taken care of with dignity and respect, but to go beyond the call and walk you through the steps to memorialize and truly honor their life.

Serving the Bay Area Since 1994
Bay Area Mortuary Services was established in 1994 by San Jose native, John E. Sparrer, as a motorcycle escort service, providing traffic control for Bay Area funeral homes. In 1996, we began providing a dignified and respectful transportation service for the relocation of loved ones that had passed, from place of death to funeral homes throughout California.
During that time, we recognized the need to provide a reasonable alternative to the high costs associated with corporate owned funeral homes. So, in 2003, the Sparrer family began providing quality funeral and cremation products and services at fair and reasonable prices to the general public.
Bay Area Mortuary supports the full spectrum of ritual observance. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for immediate assistance and can also offer guidance and counsel to those who wish to decide upon arrangements in advance.
